Our company, Dalkafouki Oikos, actively supports actions related to the revival, promotion, and preservation of our cultural heritage. Restoration and architecture are areas of particular importance for our country, and with great honor we stand sponsored by an abundance of conferences, actions, exhibitions, and presentations, contributing to their realization.

Closing another decade, we make a small review of recent years and present to you in 3 tributes our sponsorship actions from 2015 to 2020.

In this article you will find selected actions that we supported in 2015 and 2016.

 

On November 26-28, 2015, 4th Panhellenic Restoration Conference Thessaloniki

On November 26-28, 2015, the 4th Panhellenic Restoration Conference was organized in Thessaloniki. The organization was undertaken by the Society for Research and Promotion of the Scientific Restoration of Monuments (ETEPAM) in the amphitheater of TEE – TKM located at 49 Megalou Alexandrou Street. The duration of the conference was three days and two of the sessions were dedicated to specific topics: “Restoration of newer monuments with load-bearing elements of steel and reinforced concrete” and “The effects of the earthquake of Kefallonia on the monuments”. More specifically, the topics covered by the conference were the philosophy and methodology of interventions, the seismic hazard of monuments, technological research and the implementation and promotion of monuments and archaeological sites. The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the State Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace.

 

April 4 to October 16, 2016, Photography Competition

From April 4 2016 to October 16 2016, a photography competition was held by Monumenta with the theme “Buildings in danger in Greece”. Participants were invited to photograph buildings in cities and settlements, of all uses, built from 1830 to 1970, including buildings located in older settlements. The purpose of this competition, which ended with the announcement of the results on November 10, 2016, was to use the power of photography to highlight and protect the newest architectural heritage of Greece.

 

June 27 to July 2, 2016, Historical Jesuit Monastery of Ano Syros

From June 27 to July 2, 2016 at the Historical Jesuit Monastery in Ano Syros, was held for the 6th consecutive year Interuniversity Seminar on Sustainable Development, Culture and Tradition on “The emergence of the physiognomy of the place. The role of the Gates in shaping the physiognomy of the Traditional Settlements “. In this seminar, professors from all universities in the country made presentations. It was addressed mainly to scientists, students (undergraduate and postgraduate) but also to ordinary citizens who wanted to expand their knowledge about protection, promotion and utilization of cultural resources of a place. The Syros Institute in combination with the South Aegean Region, the Municipality of Syros – Ermoupolis and the Laboratory of Urban Composition undertook this event. Finally, in the framework of this event, on July 2, 2016 in Ermoupolis, a presentation of the Honorary Volume was held in honor of the Emeritus Professor of NTUA, Joseph Stefanou and a presentation of the action for the inclusion of Ermoupolis and Ano Syros in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

 

10 to 12 October 2016, 4th Historical Conference for HMC Mortars 2016 Santorini

On October 10-12, 2016, the 4th Historical Conference on Mortars (HMC 2016) was held on the island of Santorini. The aims of the conference are to disseminate knowledge, information, and experiences on the technology of historic mortars, their characterization, the development of repair materials as well as to promote research and new achievements. The conference was organized by the Building Materials Laboratory, Department of Civil Engineering, AUTh. At the same time, the Ormylia Foundation participated with its work in 2 publications: a) Application of acoustic microscopy for the evaluation of the plaster applied in tectonics “and” Comparative study for the protection of the waters of traditional floor mortars “. Finally, at the conference, distinguished scientists and professionals from various countries specializing in issues related to historical mortars presented their work.
